PipesLine #17-09

Greetings from hot central California at 2:30pm it is 108 degrees today.

I made a trip out to visit my family for a few days.  It has been special to sit and talk with my mother.  This morning we had a great discussion about Christ and Christ alone.

Next Thursday Alina and I are off to Uganda. Joining us will be 11 other team members.  The focus of the trip is a medical outreach in Kampala and Central Rural Uganda, Busanna.  In addition to the medical outreach 2 of the team members will be holding seminars entitled, ”Breaking the Cycle of Violence through Peace.”

The presentation is directed first at identifying violence in the home and then how to have peace with God and others.  Already there are government officials, Muslims, teachers, pastors and stay home parents signed up.  Over the 9 days they will hold three seminars in three different locations.

Additionally, Alina and one other Doc will be examining patients.  The local church will invite residents each day for examinations and possible treatment.  In the past this has been one of the most effective tools for outreach we have done in Uganda.  The fruit that has grown out of it has had a positive impact in the local church.  We are trusting that this trip will be no exception.

The other team members will be doing the pre-examinations.  Each person who goes in to see the doctor is first introduced to what it means to trust Christ for salvation.  Following the medical outreach in the day, mostly every evening the church holds follow up events that many of the patients attend.  Another important aspect to the medical camp is that the local community has an opportunity to see the love of Christ displayed outside the compound of the Sunday church service.

Many of you have asked how the giving has been for the land and church building/bicycle project.  As off July 8th we had received all the funds for the six bicycles and funding for the purchase of one plot of land.  We still have 2 plots of land and three buildings to go.  For more information on the exact amount remaining see www.ugandamissions.com. (Menu on left “Support Needs”)

I will ask you to considering putting this upcoming outreach on your daily prayer reminder.  Three areas of importance are:

  • The team and national staff unity of purpose: “The Gospel”
  • The teams’ sensitivity to those coming to the seminar and for medical treatment.
  • And that all who come, for whatever reason, will decide to follow Jesus.

Following is our daily itinerary.  On behalf of the team, Alina and I are so grateful for all of your love and support.
