I want to thank you for the effort you have made in the church building project in Uganda. To help you recall the purpose and amount I have copied a portion from a prior PipesLine #15-1-09;
…Pastor James and the other leaders are calling upon us to help them buy land and construct simple buildings for 3 churches. Additionally we are praying that support comes in for 6 bicycles for the church leaders.
The needs are:
- Funding to buy land for three churches. Currently, they are renting the land month to month
- Construction of a church building at each location. The current “buildings” are impermanent tent like structures.
- Bicycles for the leaders; Often pastors need to walk hours each Day to carry out ministry needs such as visitations and funerals.
The total needed is $7650.00usd. This breaks down to each location costing $2,550usd for land, a building and 2 bicycles
As of today August 17, 2009 we have received funds for the bicycles, one plot of land and enough to start construction of the frame on one building. We bought the Bicycles during the medical outreach. The land purchase will be finalized this week. The church leaders will start making plans for the construction of a building in the coming months.
God has provided much more than we asked for cornering the first purchase of land. The 750.00 we had set aside for the land will be used as a down payment on around 5.5 acres of land. More than twice the amount of land we were expecting. This land is owned by an elderly believer that lives in the location where the new church will be built. She has offered the land to the church for 2000.usd. This by itself is a good deal. But what makes this special is that the land is already producing crops for cash. It has coffee and grains that the church can harvest and use to pay off the remaining balance. Each year the land yields around a 2000usd profit from the harvest. She has agreed to give the church one-year to pray off the balance. This will be 1250usd. After paying off the balance the church will start construction on a building.
The needs now are: Funds for 2 more land purchases’; ($750 for each plot) 2 .5 buildings, (1600 for each building) Total of $4,300.
