In Need of Your Support

For almost 9 years we have been partnering with Joy Memorial Baptist Church in Busana, Uganda. In that period of time we have conducted many different outreaches, English camps, medical camps, conferences and seminars.  All of our ministry partnerships with the church were motivated to bring God glory, by encouraging the saints and reaching the lost for Christ.

Additionally, we have financially supported the building of Joy Memorial Kindergarten and Primary School.  Joy Memorial is a Christ-centered school that is 100% self supported.  Currently, over 230 youth are impacted daily by the gospel of Jesus Christ at the school.  Many of you reading this were part of that project and it was your support that allowed this to be possible.

James
, the pastor of Joy Memorial, and other leaders from the surrounding area are asking again for our assistance. I have personally invested in, and continue to serve alongside Pastor James and the other leaders from the community. I believe Pastor James to be a man of integrity who is devoted to serving the cause of Christ and makes serving Christ, his wife and 6 children his highest priority.

Joy Memorial is the mother church to 7 others in the sub-country of Busana.  Like Pastor James, many of the pastors are Biblically educated and provide for their families by farming, teaching and some small assistance from the church.  Almost everyone residing in Busana is dependent on agriculture for daily survival. There are no factories or industries to create jobs for the majority of the population.  70-80 % of what is grown is for survival throughout the year.  The remaining crops are sold to provide some income for clothes and other bare necessities.

Pastor James and the other leaders are calling upon us to help them buy land and construct simple buildings for 3 churches.   Additionally we are praying that support comes in for 6 bicycles for the church leaders.  The needs are:

  1. Funding to buy land for three churches.  Currently, they are renting the land month to month
  2. Construction of a church building at each location. The current “buildings” are impermanent tent like structures.
  3. Bicycles for the leaders; Often pastors need to walk hours each day to carry out ministry needs such as visitations and funerals.

The cost break down is:
Land / 1.3 million shillings each plot of land.  That is equal to around  $750.00usd X 3 = 2,250 Buildings/ 3 million shillings.  That is equal to around $1,600usd each building X 3 = 4,800 Bicycles /200,000 shillings that is equal to around $100.00usd each Bicycle X 6 = 600.00 The total is $7650.00usd.  This breaks down to each location costing $2,550usd for land, a building and 2 bicycles.

How you can help:

  • You might consider donating as the Lord directs to International Messengers / Uganda Project. Every little bit makes a difference.
  • Or prayerfully consider covering the cost of one location, or covering the cost of land, building or a bicycle.

However you might be lead to give, I call upon all of you to pray for the churches in this area of Uganda as well as their leaders.  Since there is no electricity or running water in this region they are for the most part cut off from the rest of the world.  The school building project was so well received, not only by the church but the local community that they now view the church as a vital part of the social growth of the community.  We believe this project will continue to encourage the saints and be used by God to show the surrounding community that God’s household cares for one another.
